Orthopedic surgery is a medical specialty that treats the musculoskeletal system—bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves—using both surgical and nonsurgical methods to repair trauma, treat degenerative diseases, address infections and tumors, and correct congenital disorders. Common orthopedic procedures include joint replacement, fracture care, spine surgery, sports injury repair like ACL reconstruction, and treatment of conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis.
